Gary was one of the most reliable and dedicated volunteers the SPCA-AR ever had. Faithfully each day, seven days a week,he would come to the shelter and do anything and everything he could for the animals. From cleaning cages and floors, feeding and walking the dogs and greeting potential adopters,Gary did it all. Gary was not seen as a volunteer by his friends at the shelter,he was a honorary member of the staff. Through the efforts of Gary there are many dogs and cats who are in loving forever homes today. He will be missed. Bob Garnett SPCA-AR Board of Directors

Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue Melody McElman, President posted a condolence
One of the Saint John SPCA's Animal Rescue most valued volunteers Gary Fougere will be accorded permanent honour this month when a plaque will be dedicated in his honour through our Paws Kennel Sponsorship. The Paws Program enables a yearly or monthly sponsorship and this will help provide shelter, care and love to one that is homeless, injured or abused while they are at the shelter. The Paws Program helps the shelter care for the many dogs and cats that will need care and protection before loving homes are found. He has spent many hours as a dedicated dog walker and assisting in any capacity that he could. He was an avid supporter and attended many of our fundraising events. He will be greatly missed by our shelter staff, board members, volunteers and most of all the shelter pets that he was so dedicated to.The plaque will be placed outside one of the larger dog kennels where Fougere had contributed many hours. "Gary was well-known in this community and his dedication to the SPCA Animal Rescue was an inspiration to many."President, Melody McElman says. Gary gave so much time to the shelter that it was like a second home said McElman. "When a neck injury prevented him from temporarily walking the dogs, he came just the same and helped out where he could, rain or shine. He spent a lot of time with Terry Goodwin, our Lead Hand helping where he could." Its appropriate that this plaque is located outside the dog area where he spent so much time and was always in high spirits and made us all laugh." The dogs loved to see him come in, they would wag their tails with such excitement when they saw him. All donations in Gary's honour would greatly aid the facility and Gary would so want that for his beloved shelter pets. The following message will appear on the plaque in tribute to Gary Fougere entitled, "In memory of Gary Fougere from your fur-ever friends at the shelter." Gary was one of the most reliable and dedicated volunteers the SPCA-AR ever had.
