Obituary of Eleanor Dorothy Cripps
It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor Cripps announce her passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Saturday August 17, 2013. Eleanor, daughter of the late Daniel and Victoria Cripps was born in Bathurst on September 28, 1932.
The ultimate hockey fan (ever faithful to her Montreal Canadiens), Eleanor moved to Quispamsis in the early 1970's and spent many, many hours at hockey arenas (near and far!) supporting her great-nephews, Marc and Rob Rioux and their teams. Always kind and supportive, Eleanor truly enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Eleanor is survived by three sisters, Margaret (the late J. Paul) Rioux of Quispamsis, Teresa (the late Arthur "Bud" Murray) of Rothesay and Mary (James) McBreen of Bournemouth, England; two brothers; Thomas (the late Betty) Cripps of Bathurst and Victor (Bill) Cripps of Milwaukee, USA; as well as nephews, Pierre (Nancy) Rioux of Quispamsis, Jacques (Linda) Rioux of Shelburne, NS, Dan (Suzanne) Murray of Saint John, Danny Cripps of BC, Garnett Cripps of Bathurst and Billy Cripps of NS; nieces, Susan (Robert) Hebert and Linda (Michael) Duguay all of Bathurst, Teresa (Joseph) Casserley of Bournemouth, England, Glory-Ann and Kimberly Cripps both of Bathurst; great-nieces, Paula (Aaron) Collins of Ottawa, ON and Melissa (Jean Pierre) Goulard of Trenton, ON; great-nephews, Marc Rioux of Red Deer, AB, Rob Rioux of Grande Prairie, AB and Adam (April) Rioux of Quispamsis; great-great-nieces, Emily Collins of Ottawa, ON, Amy and Erin Casserley of Bournemouth, England and great-great-nephew, Owen Rioux of Quispamsis. Eleanor was predeceased by brothers, John and Patrick Cripps.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119), with visitation on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with Vigil Prayers being held at 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at 10:00 AM. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Interment will take place in Bathurst at a later date.
In Eleanor's memory, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
