With sadness, the family announces the passing of F. Gilles Ouellette on Wednesday April 16, 2014 at his residence, Shannex Jubilee Hall in Quispamsis NB. Born in Baker Brook NB on May 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Denis and Clauda (Nadeau) Ouellette. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Ethel Mazerolle of St. Louis de Kent NB. They lived in Saint John NB for several years before retiring to Quispamsis. Gilles worked at the Irving Pulp and Paper Mill, starting there in his late teens, retiring as an Instrument Mechanic in his late 50’s. Until recently, Gilles was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors, camping, singing and dancing. He was a member of the 30 Up Club, Knights of Columbus Council #6770 and St. Mark’s Catholic Church, and volunteered in church ministry. As well, he had volunteered as a support person for those undergoing cardiac surgery at the SJRH as well as Meals on Wheels. He was a handyman, and helped many friends and family by repairing their appliances large and small, and enjoyed making things out of wood. Gilles is survived by 3 children: Darlene (Don) Isnor, Sheila (John) Lingley, and Paul D. Ouellette as well as 8 grandchildren; Laura(Jason) Brown, Nathan Isnor, Jason (Holly) Isnor, Kellie (Aaron) Delaney, Ashley (Chris) Dunbar, Sheelagh (Matt) Swyers, Daniel (Elaine Moir) Sweet and Stephen Lingley. Gilles was predeceased by brothers René, Armand, Enoil, Marc, Conrad Ouellette and sister Carmen Jenkins. His smile and joking manner will be greatly missed by several nieces and nephews on the Ouellette and Mazerolle sides of the family and all that knew and loved him.
