Dear family, My sincere sympathy in the loss of your dear mother. She was a wonderful lady and such a great contributor to everything in our community. As time goes on and we keep losing these wonderful seniors who shared so much knowledge and gave so much of themselves I wonder where we will find people to replace them. Our community is certainly a better place because of Jose and her contributions and knowledge shared over the years. May God Bless you and comfort you as you say good-bye to this wonderful lady. On behalf of all the Directors of the Miramichi Salmon Association (MSA), please accept our heartfelt condolences. José was the first secretary of the MSA upon its incorporation 61 years ago and will always be remembered for her valuable commitment to the cause of Salmon conservation along the Miramichi watershed, a cause and place she loved very much. We who are with the MSA today still enjoy reviewing the history of this organization for which José was such an important part. God Bless.

Judy Green Ferron posted a condolence
Dear Betty Ann and family; My five brothers in New Brunswick have all been in contact to inform me of Josee's death. We all have wonderful memories of her and mine is in conjunction with my mother, Flora Green. She and Josee though they'd known each for years, really became close friends when my Dad died. Flora then joined Josee at the Boiestown Woodmen Museum where they planned and created displays etc. They had so much fun. As well as their need to be involved in community they shared a love of books and reading. What a rich life your Mum lived and I'm sure you are very proud of her and her uplifting spirit. During Mum's final days at the hospital, I picked Josee up one day and drove her into Fredericton so they could have a visit. It was pouring rain and I had car trouble on the way. We stopped at a Greek restaurant for lunch and went on to the hospital. I took the car to the garage and Josee visited with Mum. It was wonderful to hear them laughing and talking all afternoon, about all the things they'd done together. It was also a day that I enjoyed so much spending with your mother. I kept in contact once she moved to Saint John and she had great praise and love for you, Shane and all the family. You were her centre and she was grateful for the care and love that you constantly gave her. I hadn't heard from her for awhile so I figured that she was not well. I send my deep sympathy as well as my husband Pierre's on her passing. God bless you all. Judy Green Ferron

My mother Virginia (Clowater) Davidson wishes to send her sincere condolences to the family. Jose was a good neighbour of my grandparents, Irene and Fred Clowater, and was very kind to my grandmother in her later years. Jose used to drop off travel magazines of England at my grandmother's and I loved reading them when I went to visit. Her volunteer work obviously greatly enriched the lives of the people of the Upper Miramichi. Our condolences.

Peter Pacey posted a condolence
José Clowater was a wonderful woman! I got to know her about 35 years ago when I first started the Calithumpians and she was on the board of the Woodman's Museum. She made arrangements for the museum to host the Calithumpians first show Duffy's Hotel at the museum's opening. I loved her English accent and the twinkle in her eye. She was such a dynamic woman and a true force of nature. I kept in touch with her and the museum over the years and she was always so supportive of our work and our dedication to saving the storytelling and folksong traditions of her adopted home, the Miramichi. She was a dear, sweet person. My sincerest condolences. Peter Pacey, Fredericton

Dear Betty Anne and Shane and family: my sympathy to you on the loss of your dear mother. Of course my thoughts are of growing up in Porter Cove having this kind and generous lady's support to teach and lead the children of the village. She encouraged us to grow and hone our talents, giving us writing and art lessons on her Saturdays. She kept on giving of her own time and talents to the community. Josee will always be with us; the kids in Porter Cove. We loved her. Fondly remembered, Mavis MacKay O'Donnell

Helen (MacKay) Wilby posted a condolence
Sincere sympathy on the loss of your beloved mother. Jose's talents, enthusiasm, and dedication enriched our community in Porter Cove, and especially the lives of the children. Her involvement in our local functions meant they were brought to new heights; in particular, the nativity performance at the Anglican Church in Ludlow in the early 50s. It was such a success that the entire community wanted to see it and a repeat performance was held. Having been part of that event is one of my best childhood memories. In more recent years, I enjoyed visists with Jose, as she and my mother, Bessie (Shooks), were good friends. May warm and wonderful memories keep her ever close to you. Love & Prayers, Helen

Dear Betty Ann,Shane and Families: I was saddened to hear of your mother's passing. Now, you can celebrate her rich and full life. I have many fond childhood memories of evenings at Jose's...sitting in her livingroom and placing nativity scenes in scrapbooks. We were all very fortunate to have grown up in that close community of Porter Cove. Jose lived a rich and full life. She certainly enhanced and touched the lives of so many. I have cherished penned letters and cards from Jose and I so enjoyed sharing my poetry and stories with her. I always marvelled at her intellect and talented mind; she was the fabric of the community and she played that role superbly. I can envision her smile and hear her laughter and for those memories, I am truly grateful. We were blessed to have had her vibrant presence among us for so many, many years. She was also blessed to have had wonderful children who cared deeply for her. Now, you have another angel to watch over you. God bless.
