Obituary of Harold G. Ekstrom

Harold Ekstrom, husband of the late Evelyn Ekstrom, passed away on May 31,2014, at Kings Way Care Centre. Born in Saint John on January 3, 1923, he was a son of the late Carl and Agnes (Anderson) Ekstrom. Harold worked for the Port of Saint John for many years, enjoyed camping, and had a great love of dogs; he always enjoyed entering them into competitions, and had many ribbons to show for it. He was a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church in Gondola Point. Harold is survived by a son, Stephen Ekstrom (Susan) of Edmonton, daughters Christina Raynard (the late Norm) of Moncton, Elizabeth Dubee (Robert) of Saint John and Deborah Hammond (Tony) of Hampton, a sister, Lillian Amirault of Saint John, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Harold was pre-deceased by his wife Evelyn on November 28, 2013, as well as his brother Carl, and sister Leah. Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held from the Chapel of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the ALS Society, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
