Obituary of DeWayne Jeffery Hicks
Hicks, DeWayne Jeffery - It is with great sadness that we have to announce that DeWayne J. Hicks, 36 years old, of Rothesay, NB., lost his battle with cancer on September 22, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the son of Wayne and Judith (Collins) Hicks of Rothesay, NB.
Besides his parents, Dewayne is survived by his son, Cody, daughter MaKenna, partner Ashley Veldhuizen, and grandmother Ferne (Davis) Collins, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins
Predeceased by sister, Crystal Hicks, grandfather Frederick Collins of St. Stephen, NB and grandmother Alice (Crossman) LaKing, of St. Stephen, NB.
DeWayne graduated from Kennebecasis Valley High School in 1996. He drove a taxi for Quispamsis, before going to NBCC Saint John, to become trained as a Gas Tech. He also attended UNB Fredericton where he received his degree as a Workplace Health and Safety Inspector. He was also employed by Valley Home and Hearth and Valley Taxi.
DeWayne cherished spending time with MaKenna and Cody, and enjoyed jamming with the boys, especially with his band, Victim 13. He liked playing golf, spending time with his friends, teasing and making jokes to lighten the situation.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM with visiting one hour prior to the service.
