Obituary of Barbara Elizabeth Maxwell
Barbara Elizabeth Maxwell (nee Saunders), 86, Kingsway Care Centre, Quispamsis, NB. It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Barbara E. Maxwell on January 18, 2015 after several years of declining health. Born Nov. 8, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Mabel Irene and Isaac Perry Saunders. She was predeceased by her husband D. Curtis in July 2008.
She is survived by son Eric (Rebecca), daughter Holly (Charles), and grandchildren Stephanie, Joel, Grant, Laura, Colin, and Maia. Also surviving are sister Martha, nephews Mark and Jeff, and several cousins.
Barb lived most of her life in Gondola Point. She and Curt resided in the Sussex area for a number of years until Curt’s retirement from Barbour Foods, at which time they returned to Gondola Point and her beloved Kennebecasis river.
While in Sussex, Barb became a founding member of the Sussex Vale Quilt Guild. She and other members had the honour and pleasure of preparing and presenting a display of quilts to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip on their Royal Jubilee Visit to Sussex, Oct. 12, 2002
As well as being a talented seamstress and quilter, Barb enjoyed knitting, landscape painting, gardening, baking, and travel.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church and the ACW, Gondola Point.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Kingsway Care Centre.
Cremation has been entrusted to Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family burial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barb's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.
