Obituary of Rita Aileen Duffley

Rita Aileen Duffley, of Quispamsis, NB, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2020, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Model Farm, NB, on April 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late, Albert and Verna (McPhee) Buckley.

She was predeceased by her husband, George “Jim” Duffley, her son, Mark Duffley, granddaughter, Rachael Duffley, brothers Rowland Buckley and Albert Jr. Buckley, sister Josephine Phillips, and son-in-law, Frank Iyoupe. 

During her life, Rita worked at a bank prior to starting a family. She took great pride in her children and was devoted to taking care of them. As her family grew, she worked at her brother’s insurance company to help support them. She was a woman of great faith, and enjoyed attending Mass and helping out at St. Mark’s Church in Quispamsis.

Rita will be deeply missed by her sons, Alan of Quispamsis, NB, Owen (Kelly) of Fall River, NS, Noel (Wendy) of Rockland, ON, daughters Alberta (Paul) Mercer of Saint John, NB, Julie (Bob) Johnston of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, and Carol Duffley of NS, daughter-in-law Lynn Ann Duffley of Belleisle, NB, sisters Donna (Hugh) Harriott of Quispamsis, NB, and Diane (Ron) Ellis of Quispamsis, NB, grandchildren  Jason (Louise), Danielle (Joel), Jeremiah (Amy), Joshua (Lynn), Jacqueline (Chris), Vanessa, Mariah, Kirstin, and Alicia, great grandchildren Jeffery, Julieanne, Gerard, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Rita will be held at St. Mark’s Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10 AM.  Interment to take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery at a later date.  In Rita’s memory, donations may be made to MindCare New Brunswick or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
