Aunt Shirl, Across the Years I will walk with you in deep green forests, on shores of sand and when our time on earth is through in heaven, too, you will have my hand. This in one of my favorite poems. I do remember walking with you and holding my hand, you always made me feel loved and special. I will Miss You, Bev

Shirley was one of my favourites!. we would have a chat at 0600 when I woke her for meds. She enjoyed my stories about my grandkids. She would reach out to touch my hair and say" I just love your curls" I would say " thankyou.. it was a birthday gift from my parents" This made her beautiful smile start both our days. . Rest easy, my sweet. Christine RN

Aunt Shirl was a huge part of my childhood, I grew up in Cambridge Ontario, lived close to her house for many years, spent many nights there for sleep overs and visits often, I often played with Uncle Dicks handmade wooden toys while sitting betweeen Aunt Shirl's feet, chatting away about anything and everything, they were like grandparents to and treated me as such. My memories of her (them) are vivid and deep, she'll be missed and will hold piece of my heart forever ♥️

Aunt shirl was a very important person in my life. As long as I can remember she was always there for my family. She made our Christmas very special. As a child I would watch out the window looking for Uncle Dick’s car. I was always excited to see them pull in the driveway. They would pull out boxes of presents and food. She started a Christmas Eve tradition where we got new jammies and a game. This tradition has carried into my family. There was never a holiday that we didn’t celebrate with them. I spent many weekends sleeping over at their house. They took me on trips in their camper down East. She never missed a birthday card only in the last few years. My mom always received cards for every holiday from her. My mom was close to Aunt Shirl and even when our father left she stepped in and became more of a presence in our lives. What she did for our family I will never forget. Even when they moved back out East she still kept in contact through letters and phone calls. She would come back for visits and we would see her when we went down East. She had the biggest smile, the hugest heart and biggest hugs. She gave great hugs. I will truly miss her but I know in my heart she will always be remembered especially at Christmas time. I know the traditions that she started will be carried on through my children.

Shirley..Always Mrs. Hamilton to us, I remember meeting her and being welcomed into their home in Cambridge. After that every Christmas we would get a card with a letter. She was amazing at writing letters.

Although I haven’t seen her in years, I still cherish very fond childhood memories of Aunt Shirl. Her and Uncle Dick, and cousins Rick and Tim, were a big part of our lives growing up. They were always there and always generous on special occasions – birthdays and Christmas. They lived just a few minutes walk away so there were lots of back and forth visits; and there always seemed to be fresh-baked cookies at Aunt Shirl’s. I remember fun filled summer camping trips to Holiday Beach and Country Gardens. And Shirley and Dick involved my five brothers and sisters and me in their church – Sunday school, Bible school and Stockades. Aunt Shirl was so considerate, caring and kind. My childhood was greatly enriched by her.
And I know Shirley made a huge difference to our mother. They worked together at Sears for many years. My mother was with Sears in Saint John and I think Shirley helped her get on with Sears in Cambridge and then the Kitchener warehouse. My mother loved that job. Things weren’t always easy for my mom, but she always had Shirley to lean on. They remained close friends, speaking regularly until mom’s passing a few years ago. Mom always thought the world of Shirley, and for good reason.
With loving memories,
Paul Lennox
