Dear Trudi,
On behalf of myself and my brother Mervin, we extend condolences to you and Greg and your families and to your extended family.
We are very sorry for you loss. You mom was a very special lady. We, (my family and most families on our street) always looked forward to your mom's visits in the summer. As a wee lad, I recall being bounced on her knee many times while she told me how special and talented I was- which of course gave me the nerve to demonstrate my tap dancing skills - while my father looked on proud and jolly as he squeezed out one of his favorite jigs on his accordion. Your mom had a special gift with people and knew how to keep the merriment going. These memories go back to the kitchen of our family home in Arnold's Cove NEWFOUNDLAND. I had to place that emphasis as your mom was very much "at home" with us- indeed her roots were just a few miles up the bay in Hr. Buffett? I believe- that was a long time ago, before my time, so i don't remember her birthplace. As we know there are so many little inlets and "tickles" where people landed to make a new life for themselves. So in addition to metro Hr. Buffett, there was Collet's cove, Wiffens Cove, the Tickles, where we lived next to Ada (Masters) my second grandmother at the time who lived next door. So yes, many of us leave NL for various reasons- but as they say NL does not leave us.
And it was also via your mom that we also had a very special friendship. I remember visiting you all in Lunenburg in the early 80's before I started my studies in Halifax...yet the kitchen party was a little different, hence perhaps why the spirit of the place we call NL stays with us forever.
Stay proud and strong dear Ann, while that spirit continues on and washes overall all- to make this world a better place.
Love and sincere sympathy from Philip Hollett, Penetanguishene, ON

So very sorry to hear about Anne's passing. She was a beautiful lady. Full of passion and zest for life. Didn't know her well but working at Shannex she always had a smile on her face. May she rest in peace .
