Obituary of Wayne Louis Smith
With heavy hearts, the family of Mr. Wayne L. Smith, husband of almost 49 years to Grace (MacEachern) Smith, sadly announces his passing on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August 13, 1954, in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Alvin and Eunice (Hawkes) Smith.
In addition to his wife, Grace, Wayne is survived by his sons, Barry (Jen Landry) and their beautiful daughters, Grace and Lauren, and Dennis (Sara Dube) and their precious kids, Riley and Shawn; sisters: Gail Smith (Richard), Eileen Klotz (Bill), Nancy MacLean (the late Don), and Kathy Wright (Kevin); and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne started in the jewellery industry at the age of 16, and quickly discovered his passion for it! He worked diligently to open his first jewellery store in Brunswick Square in 1992, moving to the current location in Rothesay in 2020. He valued his relationships with his long-time customers, deriving great enjoyment from making their dream pieces come to life for over 52 years. Wayne did not have employees and customers, he had “family” and he made sure they felt it!
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506-849-2119), where a Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 2 to 4 pm, with an open mic for remembrances being shared at 3 pm. Interment will take place at a later date in Curryville, NB. For those who wish, remembrances to the IWK or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.KennebecasisFH.com.
