When I was 14, Jackie asked me to go on a trip around Cape Breton Island. Jackie owned a 56’ Chevy that was turquoise with cream trim and a lot of chrome. It was the last week of August. We headed out and we reached Moncton when Jackie asked me to look at the map of Moncton to find a street that had a Canadian Tire. We arrived and we bought a quart of Nu gold oil (Canadian Tires cheap brand of oil).
When nearing New Glasgow Jackie said we will be stopping to get some more oil. Upon finding Canadian Tire we went in and bought 3 cans of oil as they were now on sale, 69 cents a quart.
When we got back in the car, I asked Jackie if the car ran on oil. Jackie laughed and said “you’d think so wouldn’t you”.
We had a great trip tenting, site seeing and swimming. We even stopped into Parlee Beach on the way. Upon having a great swim we hung the swim suits on the mirror to dry and when I moved the mirror to have a better view of the girls, Jackie reminded me that the mirrors were for driving!
